Overheat Alarm Sounding when key turned, engine cold

Hello everyone,

I've been reading these forums for a couple months since I bought my 2003 17' Key West. Y'all have already been a great help, so thank you, but I'm at a point that I'm stuck.

Here's the skinny.....the other day I got in some water that was a bit too skinny at dead low tide. Revved the engine one or two good times trying to get out, to no avail. Overheat alarm sounded very briefly and I turned it off. Tide came in 30 minutes later and we were off with no problems. Engine pissing normally. Opened her wide open and ran through the harbor, probly 5-10 minute run, and she ran perfectly. Once we slowed to idle the alarm kicked back on again and hasn't shut off since. Engine runs normally, pisses so hard it'll hurt your hand, water coming out isn't overly hot.

Thanks to the good advice from folks here, I've checked: 2 overheat sensors, 2 thermostats, unplugged wire from oil tank, unplugged wire from oil pump/injector, checked alarm buzzer in throttle housing........all are ok, beep still there with a cold engine when I turn the key without cranking.

Being a rookie, I started unplugging things on the engine to see if anything else would shut off the alarm. Here's a picture of the wiring I unplugged that shut off the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. The engine still cranked normally, but I can't tell what the wires run to......they go down under the engine and aren't visible.

HELP!
