i have read several posts on related problems similar to mine. i think my "popit" valve or pressure controll valve is the problem. MY problem is i dont know where its at:confused: lol! i have a 60tlrb yamaha two stroke. when running the boat the alarm never sounds only when idoled for a lil while. i have checked my thermostat in a pot of water on the stove it seems to b working properly. i also read in another post that water comming out of the two top exhust which leads me to belive it is this so called "popit". mayb it doesnt even have one???? thanks in advance

Ayuh,... Have you replaced the Impeller....

Overheat at idle is a symptom of a failing impeller...

Overheat at idle is also a symptom of exhaust leak. When you run at full speed the exhaust is blown out by the wind, but once you come to idle the hot exhaust gas gets trapped up in the cowling and causes overheating. I know some Yammy's had this issue, just not sure if yours is one of the susceptible ones.

I'd suggest putting in a new impellor if you've gone to the trouble of dropping the lower unit.

I'd suggest you post on the yamaha engine forum.

The impeller would be my first place to start too...
