I bought a Nissan 1995 25C outboard motor. i was running down river and slightly hit a log with the prop. Shaft is not bent or vibrating. The guy said the prop was already very old. Im guessing i spun the rubber hub in the prop. Is this possible? Anything above about half throttle this motor wants to rev really high while not accelerating. If this the case how can I tell this is the problem? If this is not the problem what else could have happened?
Thanks for any help,
duckslayingpro

Re: Over Revving?

Pull the prop and mark the hub/prop with marker paint. After a test where you produce the over rev condition, inspect the marks. If they are not aligned, you confirmed it is the hub. FWIW, I suspect that is what your problem is. I have had 2 factory prop hubs go "bad" on my 18E, just from age/use.
