I have 2 1994 evinrude 175 hp spitfire engines (826 hrs combined) on a Tiara persuit ;purchased earlier this year. One engine runs A ok, the other is hard to start but runs ok in the water until appx 3000 rtpm when the beep beep overheat goes off, engine throttles down and shakes. plugs and t/stats,impeller changed during service in june! Ckd t/stats, sensors (by look only) and all ok, figured maybe sand in impeller/. Dropped lower end ( a first as not my skill set) found gasket snagged and figure I had found the problem (rest of lower end ok and no apparent issues. Test ran with ears, some difficulty starting until I removed the engine cover and hand opened the carbs...fired and setteled down ok with good pee streams...3 mins in beep beep alarm. Turned off and rechecked t/stats and sensors..appeared ok..flused out eng via t/stat openings. After an hour (during which i inadvertantly broke the Tell Tail Hose Elbow...I restarted with same resu after appx 3 mins? Any ideas as to the source of the problem?.....the hose elbow being a minor issue at this time....Help!
