While reading one of my other forums, I saw a post about a rebuilt pontoon boat with some very wild boat graphics on it.

http://www.streetglo.net/custom-boat-name-decal-photos.html

Look at the pontoon boat. Of course, this is some kind of reflective graphics design but I think it looks really sharp and this guy gets an award for unique ideas. The text with this included some reference to ICW waterway safety and frankly I think he took a boring idea and did wonders with it. My hat is off to you Fred!

Reminds me of a bit I caught on Horsepower TV, where they're now using full sheet graphics instead of paint, to cover a car.

Don't know how these would hold-up in a marine environment, but the idea is pretty cool (they use a huge printer, on Avery label stock).

Company web-site

Ron,

Gotta love it. How does it corner at speed? Or handle in high winds?

NASCAR does that now too. It's call a wrap. Not so much a awesome paint job on the cars like the old days....now they wrap it with a big sticker.(or several smaller stickers)

That definately seems like cheating. Since most MASCAR bodies only like a race or two, I wonder how well those stickers will last over a few months.

They hold up well. The company I used to work for had put them on a couple of commercial vehicles.
There is also a company out there that will pay you for driving your car if you let them put an advertising wrap on your vehicle. They claim it doesnt hurt your paint at all as long as there's no defects in the paint before its applied. Oh and you have to meet monthly minimum mileage requirements too :D

They use the wrap on buses in these parts - it is perforated, so you can see out through the windows, but from outside it looks solid. Considering the weather variation we get here, you'd get more than a few weeks out of it. Very neat product.
