Re: outrageous ebay item
Think restoration. Look at what people will pay for stuff to restore old cars. The old boat guys are just as nuts.

I recently sold my old 1958 Johnson RDS20 35 hp Super Seahorse to a guy I ran into at a local lake. It was on a crappy old trihull boat, with an even crappier trailer. But the engine was almost perfect. Excellent chrome bits, good paint (above the water line) and it ran like a fine watch.

Turned out the guy was restoring a late 50's Larson runabout, and had been looking for the exact model outboard I had. We talked for awhile at the lake, and I took him out in the boat and put that old Johnson through its paces. When we got back to the launch, the guy offered me what I thought was an obscenely high price for that outboard.

I insisted that the boat and trailer came with the outboard, and he didn't quibble. So, we went to a local branch of his bank, he got the cash, and I towed the whole rig to his house. Cool deal!
