Outdrive vibration while using in motion... L-drive

Last time out I noticed a pretty bad vibration when I raised the outdrive after getting the boat on plane. It was certainly not part of normal operation.

Does anyone have any input as to what the culprit might be? I've got the motor out of the boat and would like to remedy this before reinstalling the engine.

Lastly, any advice to me regarding servicing the lower unit? I have no idea how long its been since the previous owner did so. Is this a DIY job or better left to a professional? Any special tools required?

I'm not an Expert but I would look at the driveline universals for vibration problems.As far as the lower unit(gearcase) I believe it is the same as the outboard gearcase and it does use the same impeller.
