what does this sound like to you?

kinda has a random "pebble in a blender" sound.

With the engine off, and in neutral, i can spin the prop both ways without any ratcheting or clicking.

Just started doing this recently. Doesn't appear to be doing it in gear, but i could be wrong. my ears aren't that great.

I thought about that, but this doesn't have the shutter valve in the exhaust.

it's only during the first 4 seconds when the drive is in neutral. If you have headphones you'll hear it.

If this is the case (again no head phones) I would say it is more then likely the shift cable needs to be adjusted because the clutch teeth are to close to the other teeth

ok. Thanks AllDodge.

Was just worried i might have a chipped gear or something. but it seams to stop if i pull back slightly on the shifter control - towards reverse (but not fully engaged) with the engine running.
I just replaced my lower shift cable a few months ago so maybe it needs to be readjusted.
