Outdrive Question

Hi All,

I have a 2001 Four Winns with the SX-M out drive. I've pulled the out drive for maintenance and ahd a couple of questions.

Can I replace the both bellows without removing the pivot housing? I got them out, just not sure how hard they'll be to get back in.

Next, has anyone found a cheaper alternative to the Sierra 18-6406 u-joint? I've search throughout the fourms and can really find anything solid on it.

Thanks

Re: Outdrive Question

As for the bellows, yes you can put the new ones on with the pivot housing still attached. I've done it with and without removing the housing...there's obviously less room to work with it on, but the time I saved with the bellows install was washed out with the time it took to remove and replace the housing.

Anyone care to weigh in on the U-Joint question?

Re: Outdrive Question

The have the keepers on the outside Don, I was trying to avoid buying the VP joints, they're a little on the spendy side.

I've seen a bunch of the threads but am maybe just having trouble following one to the other. My local Auto Zone has the 344 equivalent for $12 each, tons less than the $75 each for the VP's.
