hi there I have a 1978 mercruiser with a 305 v8 228 and a alpha one 1 generation, can I buy a alpha one generation 2 ratio 1.5 ?will work for my boat or I cant use it thanks again?

Just buy a Gen. 1

Ayuh,....

You actually should have a Pre-Alpha,....

An Alpha 1 will bolt on,+ Run,...
But an Alpha 1, Gen.II will Not bolt on, nor run....
