Hoping this is in the right spot
i'm new to boating as of the last couple years -
4.3 Merc - 19.6' boat 1997

I've always wondered - what happens if your trim pump blows out while using your boat, how do you get the drive back to the trailer position? is there manual override? do pumps just "go", or are there helpful warning signs

thanks all! this will feed my curiosity, or "fear" lol

you can:
jump over and remove the nuts, rubber bushings and washers , pop the rams off the end of the drive. loop a rope around the trim tab or prop and putt it up and tie it off.
or remove the hoses from the trim pump and pull drive up and tie off. it will leave a oily mess in the bilge

pumps dont just go. with normal maintenance they will outlive your motor. the primary cause of issues is contaminated fluid from failing ram seals. the oil becomes milky.

Now I have had to hot-wire a motor for a failed solenoid.
