I had to run new wiring from both switch/sender on my 1979 MercCruiser up and thru blower grill. Fixed it right a few years later when doing Bellows repair.

Short Answer ,No

Greetings . . . Which brand/model outdrive?
It’s a Sterndrive Engineering SE106 I had it replaced just recently. When I picked up the boat the mechanic explained to me that the 3 button up down trim buttons didn’t work but he was able to jumper the wires to show me it did go up and down. He said he would have replaced it but couldn’t find one. I was able to find one with a new cable and replaced it. I matched wire for wire on the buttons, and now the Outdrive will only go down no matter how I move the wires. The only difference with the new cable and the old one is there are 2 blue wires and one purple the 2 blue wires go together into the bullet splice and the purple goes into one also I connected them color to color. Also the re wire coming out of the Outdrive pump/ motor is alway hot with 12 bolts???. Anyways I don’t see a trim switch of any kind outside. I need to figure out how to get the Outdrive up in case I need to bring it to a shop.
