outdrive install

I am getting ready to install outdrive (trs) and I noticed the manual says nothing about sealant on the bell housing gasket...is this correct? Just a plain ol gasket and the o-ring around the shaft housing? no sealant? thanks!

Its a 78' TRS outdrive...has the cr seal for the oil passage connector and the large o-ring for the u-joint housing, then a bell housing gasket. Need sealant on gasket?

ive never had your drive, but i never do ANYTHING the the manual doesnt state and find it to be sound advise.
