I'M TRYING TO PUT MY OUTDRIVE BACK ON AFTER A MOTOR REBUILD.MY PROBLEM IS IT WILL GO IN AND SEEMS TO LINE UP WITH EVERYTHING BUT IT STOPS ABOUT AN INCH BEFORE IT WOULD BE COMPLETELY TOGETHER.I HAVE THE SHIFTER IN FORWARD FULL THRODEL I'M WONDERING IF MY ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REALINED EVEN THOUGH MOUNTS WERE NEVER DISTURBED ANY INFO ON HOW TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM???

Make sure the shift shaft assy. is mating up correctly. See pic Items 21 and 22. They can also keep you from getting the drive on. web page

Also check the big square o-ring (item #8)if it is not glued properly, it can sag and catch on the drive housing.
