Outdrive help, Engine revs but Prop barely turns

Hello, I have a Mercuiser 888 in a 73 Glasply, everything was working fine, but I pulled the boat out of that water, had the prop fixed because it had a couple dings, and I added a Petronix ignition to the engine. I made the appropriate adjustments to the timing of the engine, and it is running like a top.

I put the prop back on, first time for me, and now when I accelerate the engine rev's up, but the boat only goes 5-7 mph. Its like the prop is spinning, and not grabbing on the shaft. Quite a bit of wake comes out the back, but the boat won't get up to speed.

I took the prop back off today, everything looks ok. What am I missing? Any help is appreciated.

one test is to mark the prop/shaft with a grease pen, run the boat and get it to slip, then check the line(s) - if they are off then the hub in the prop is spun

otherwise your coupler may be shot

Sounds like a spun prop hub to me. Try the advice above to test it w/ the grease pen.
