outdrive compatability.

I have an opportunity to buy a good running 165 hp straight six and replace my not so good 140.
The 140 is 1984. Can I Use the outdrive of the 140 (Alpha one) with the 165 or are there compatabilty issues?

There will be issues...

- the gearing will be different. May be able to compensate with a different prop, but will be less than ideal.

-the shaft will be a different length. Will need to get a different shaft. (I don't remember if longer or shorter.

-Do you have room for the added length of the straight six?
