outboard year

I recently purchased a boat that has the motor camoflaged and Im not sure of the year or horse power. The serial number is 614059. I was told the engine is a 75hp. Thanks

I think you are missing a number as they are usually 7 in length however 614059 plus any number from 0-9 comes up as:

Model Manufacturer Year HP
1040522 MERCURY 1982 40

You were right the serial number is 6614059. Would a 40hp be the same size as a 75hp? It seems pretty large for a 40hp to me.
