Outboard year ID

I've got a Mercury Blue band 90 hp in-line 6 that I want to get the seloc online manual for but I'm having problems working out the year of the motor, the serial no is 8057882

I checked on this page and it looks like it might be 1985? But under the cover there is a sticker with timing info that says 1979 Merc 90 (di) so I now have no idea. This was so much easier with my old johnson...lol If anyone can help me find the year that would be great as I need to take the top carb off and work out why it's leaking when priming (hopefully just the float)

For 1979, the decals were blue and 1985 they were brown which you can check here:

The page you referred to is a copy of the marinshopen s/n listing and they do not have the Australian engines. I have not been able to find an accurate source for those engines.

which should help you to verify that yours is a 1979

Please do not get a Seloc manual, they are crap!

the p/n for the Mercury manual is 90-86134--4 and though not cheap, it will be the best you can get.

Thanks mate, I should of know we had different s/n in Australia. It looks like it's the 79 but I'll check some of the part numbers on the list just to be sure. And thanks for the warning about the seloc manuals, I'll order the factory one I think.

Thanks for your help everyone it looks like it is the 79 model, I managed to find the factory manual, it cost a small fortune but should be worth it. BTW it looks like the one in the last picture that 79Merc80 posted.
