I have a 2022 mercury 8hp outboard that I purchased in February. I forgot to bolt it into my transom when I put it on the boat and the engine fell off and submerged into the river while running(brackish water). I was able to get it rinsed off and to my mechanic who was able to get everything cleaned up and running. Ever since I got it back it starts first pull and runs great, but if I run it for a while, shut it off and try to restart it, nothing happens. I get back to the dock and wait 2-4 hours and it starts up again. Anyone have any idea what’s going on? Maybe something from the ignition/starter is corroded from being submerged? Any help is appreciated

Submersion can cause all kinds of electrical problems, especially down the road. You can govthru and replace all the electronics orvtradevit in for a new motor. Not gonna be fun either way, costly lesson learned...

As in, it cranks but doesn't start, or literally Nothing?

Carb motor, right? Thesefore it sounds electrical to me. When she won't restart, check for spark at the spark plugs. All you have on that motor that is electrical is ignition.
