Re: Outboard Weight

Howdy, Kiwi.

Your 'Rude 65 weighed about 250lb.

The Suzi I am not familiar with. If it is an inline 3, figure about 280 to 300. If it is a V4 then it should be around 320lb.

Years ago I repowered a Boston Whaler 16 from a 315lb Johnson 100 V4 to a Johnson 70 triple (very similar to your 65 'Rude).

Handling and trim were a lot better with only 65lb less on the transom.

Good luck. :)

Re: Outboard Weight

Thanks JB & Trent, handling in rough water is definately not as good as with the 65 Evinrude, its very light in the nose. My Suzi is a 3 cyl inline. I have installed a plate that gives me more angle on the motor when trimmed right down, this helped with getting on the plane quicker, but that was never really a problem - it doesnt help very much in rough water. I'm going to place something equal to the difference in weight up front as a test to see if I can improve things. I'm not too worried about the extra weight/gas consumption as long as I get better handling. I miss being able to plough through the rough !! and doesnt it give you a scare when you come down off a wave butt first !

Mike
