Outboard upgrade to my Fisher QUESTION?

I have a 2006 Fisher 16' Avenger Pro SC with a 9.9 mercury pro kicker on her. The boat was purchased off the dealers showroom and he added the 9.9 for me, which required an electrical adapter since the mercury 9.9 is really made by Tohatsu (Motor is a 2006).

Now I want to buy a larger outboard to swap in place of the 9.9 several times a year, but I want to use the same controls. Anyone know what mercury or Tohatsu Outboards will use the same controls?

All I want is a 30-40 HP that I can put on there on occasion. Not both at once, just one or the other. I want to swap out my 9.9 with something bigger with little effort and no changes to the controls. Anyone have any advice?

This is my current 9.9 shown:

Re: Outboard upgrade to my Fisher QUESTION?

I would "assume" since your outboard is like mine (Merc. made by Tohatsu and painted black.) that your best bet would be to swap out to a Tohatsu/Nissan version of a 30-40hp in either 2 or 4 stroke.

*I would suggest also posting your question to Elvin over in the Nissan/Tohatsu forum just to be sure they all can use the same controls.
