Outboard storage position Question

I have a 1986 mercury outboard with power trim and tilt cylinders (2 trim, one tilt). What is best position to leave in storage?

+1....takes the pressure off the packing and sucks the rod up out of the environment

Definitely down. I also used a transom saver on both my O/Bs if traveling on the trailer. They should be called hydraulic cylinder savers.
