Outboard stalls

Hi all,

I have a '05 Nissan 9.8 4-stroke that's giving me intermittent trouble. Every now and then, after running at fast speed for a while, the motor quits/stalls when I slow down. When I restart it, it revs to high rpm's, then quits again.

Anyone experience this before?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Re: Outboard stalls

Thanks, Guru. I was thinking that too. I was also thinking that it may be a faulty fuel line connection, so I am going to replace that.

Guru - You are the man!

So, the symptoms were....

-would idle at higher rpm's
-would die out when slowed down

Guru said, sounds like trash in the carb. Bingo!

Answer: There was a small piece of something blocking the slow speed jet. While I was in there I also noticed a lot of pitting or corrosion in the bowl and suspect that material is what I remove from the jet.

Question: Does anyone know if there is a fuel treatment that can help prevent this type of corrosion in the carb?

Seafoam! It's a gas additive. I use it and have been very satisified.

You can get it at auto parts stores.
