i have a '94 35hp johnson. it is tiller drive and has a manual shift lever coming out of the front of the cowling. in the last couple of times i have used it, i have had to slam it down to get it to go into forward and the reverse is now in the nuetral position. i see no adjustments on any linkages. how is this adjusted? do you have to the engine off and adjust it in the power head? or can you pull off the lower unit and simply turn the shifting shaft for adjustment? thanks!

~LBS

Re: outboard shifting problem

If you had to slam it to put in gear, may need gear oil, and probley bent the shift linkage.
