Outboard question

I have a question for all the experienced boaters out there. Will a 1996 Force 120hp w/20" shaft work on a 1986 ranger? Any info is greatly appreciated.

What model, what length Ranger?????? It will make a difference.

1986 373V Commanche Bass Master Classic series. It is about 17.8 long around 1250-1300lbs dry.

Really not enough power for a boat of this size. You need the standard 150 H.P. that this boat is rated for.

This 120 is all I can afford right now. I am hoping it will move it a little. It should work for now until I can get a 150 hp. They are pretty exensive. Any info or tips are greatly appreciated. thanks
