I'm getting ready to take the complete lower section of the motor(everything minus the power head) to get powder coated. I have disassembled the mid section cause it needed some work in the mega phone. The lower unit is complete though. I need to know if the oven(350 degrees for 15 minutes) will harm anything in the lower unit.Thanxs

I forgot to mention, I was planning to leave the lube in there then change it later.

Remove all of the seals and gears, as well as flushing the lube. Put only the main casting in the oven.

Good luck.
Red sky at night. . .
JB

Hey corn. Are you saying I need to take apart the whole lower unit?

If you are going to bake it, that is my recommendation, droMac. I don't think your seals would take 350 degrees. To remove them you have to take it apart. It's your call whether you accept the risk. Sorry.
