Outboard opinion wanted

I am looking at two used boats,same size boat but one has a 2003 Honda 15 hp and one has a 2007 Mercury 15 hp,which one would you chose and why,both look brand new and have low hours,im just not to sure which would be a better buy,or if they would push the boat the same speed is another concern,i have a 40 hp honda on another boat which is a great motor,i think my problem is i like the honda but i like the boat that has the Merc better .

As long as you don't have problems either is fine. I've seen 2 Hondas down waiting on parts from Japan over the past 18 months.

That Mercury 15 should be made by Tohatsu. Very reliable engines...

I knew the Merc is made by Tohatsu,saw the one with the Honda yesterday and will go look at the boat with the Merc on Wednesday ,think i am leaning toward the Merc,will report if i buy one of them.

i like the boat that has the Merc better .

Well there ya' go. Plus the merc' is 4 years newer, and quite possibly has better access to parts.

Well, it coulda' been worse..... Your thread could have been titled "Which is better, OMC or Mercury?"..... That discussion would have lasted at least a month.
