Re: outboard oil capacity
Marco - Here ya go.

Yes, replace the lower unit oil.

This is how you do it on your motor. I have the same motor, just a year newer.

First, tilt the motor up. Then look for the allen wrench fitting oil drain plug. It's NOT THE ONE WITH THE SCREW on the side of the motor. That is the Shift/Pivot screw. DON'T TOUCH IT.

Take out the drain plug with your allen wrench. I would recommend a socket with an allen wrench bit. (Mine is stripped and I am having a mechanic come over Wednesday), so DON'T force it if it won't come free. Make another post on this board if the drain plug is frozen.

Now that you have the drain plug out, take off the two screws on top of the lower unit. One says, Vent and the other Fill.

Let the oil drain completely. You can even manually move the prop a BIT to assure yourself all the oil is out.

Now, put in a NEW drainplug. $8.00 at the dealer. And buy a bottle of QUICKSILVER PREMIUM LOWER UNIT OIL, with the PUMP KIT.

Put the pump kit onto the bottle and screw the other end into the fill. (you will know what I mean when you buy the pump kit)

Start pumping. Its going to take almost all the bottle of gear lube and then you will see the oil start to come out the vent.

Now take off the pump kit, reinstall the screw with a NEW GASKET WASHER and do the same for the vent plug.

Let is sit for a while and then take the vent plug off again. If lube comes out the vent plug your full. If not, repeat the process a bit until it starts to flow out again.

Do it about 2 times and your done.

DO NOT, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STRIP YOUR DRAIN PLUG, or TAKE OUT THE SHIFT/PIVOT SCREW......

Again, post on how to take out a frozen bolt if you can't get it out.

The book also recommends loctite sealer when installing the new drain plug.
