Hey Guys,
I've got a question about the motor mount on the Nissan outboard and the transom angle on my boat.
Maybe there is something I'm missing, like an adjustment to the mouting bracket, but when I put my new outboard on my boat the bracket sits flush against the transom, and the top of the bracket does not sit flush on the top of the transom. Know what I mean? It seems the bracket is set for a perfectly verticle transom, but my transom is angled about 10 degrees or so(haven't measured it yet).
Is there an easy fix to this. I've got a Klamath Jac Boat 15' Wide Bottom with 20" transom. The motor is a Nissan 18 hp outboard.
Any easy solutions? An adjustment that I am overlooking on the motor bracket?
Thank You!

You have multiple trim angle adjustments. Just pull out the adjustment rod and then put it back in in a different hole.

Welcome to iboats Bull-Polly. :)

So, the transom bracket rests on the top inside edge of the transom?

Nothing you can do about that.
No need to either.
The top edge of a transom is often at a different angle.
Tighten it down and go boating.

Hey Thanks Roscoe,
That's right. I thought about putting shims in between the transom and the bracket, but that would have to be a custom job, and a lot of work to get it right and get it flush with the transom. I just won't worry about it. I figure it's a common problem. It's clamped on now, and I'll run a couple bolts through the transom to perminently mount the motor on there and go with it.

Thanks for your reply too Tohatsu Guru. It's not a question of the trim angle, but the design angle of the bracket in relation to the angle of the transom.

Mine did that too. We just used some scrap 3/4" by 1/16" aluminum bar we had layin' around. Just cut it with tin snips. You can get it at any home improvement store. We used it on the back half of the clamp as it touched only on the front.

Thanks for the tip bassboy. I thought about shimming the gap, but think I'll just bolt the motor in place. Then I'm not relying on the bracket to stay put, even though I'm sure it will.
Though about using a jack plate too, but it's just a small fishin' boat, so no need to go overboard.
Tight Lines!
