OUtboard Info, Please

I'm looking at purchasing a used 9.9 Mariner. Serial Number is OB397551. Can anybody help me out with a year? Also wondering of $450 is a fair price. It looks to be in really good condition. What should compression be?

I think $450 is okay if the motor is relatively rust free and running %100. Mabey try to 'shave' off $50.

Don't know what compression it should be but all cylinders should be within %10 of each other. Im guessing 110-115 PSI should be good but mabey someone can chime in and concur.


If you can test it on the water that would be the best, but atleast have it run in a barrel or something.
