outboard engine pull

Looking to pull 200h.p.yamaha off transom,the motor mount bolt patten has the engine itself above the transom by several inches.My question is do I apply a little pressure with the engine pull inorder to remove all bolts?I have a beefy engine pull and I want make sure if there are any steps or tricks of the trade I would like to be informed before pulling out last bolt.Thankyou Andy

Be shure to have the motor secured to your lift really well.give it some tension,but dont over do it. Carefully remove bolts,you may have to wiggle/tap em out if they were bedded properly.Do not get your feet,or any body part under the motor when removing bolts,if anything happens,at least you can run away till the smoke clears! Do not try to catch and save it!

Not sure what you are trying to use to support the weight as you pull the engine, but a good engine hoist is a great tool to use. It will not only hold the OB's weight but also allow you to move it around after it is removed too. There also should be a lifting eye installed on the OB engine itself for lifting the OB. Use a good strong chain attached with quality bolts to secure it... And as grub1grub2 stated, do NOT get any body part(s) or others around you under the lift for safety reasons. An OB is replaceable if an accident does happen...bodies are not!
