outboard electrical connection

i am replacing an older outboard that only has an electrical connection for the alternator with a new tahotsu 8 hp with both an alternator and an electric start. do both the alternator and the electric start utilize the same wiring or are there seperate wires for each? any other info and/or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

One set of leads come out of the engine and route to the battery.
