out of state boat registration in florida

A friend bought a boat registered in illinois. he does'nt have a bill of sale or the name of the owner. All he has is the state number (IL XXXX 00) registration number. We live in Florida. any idea how to get it registered here?

Check your state DMV (or DNR?) regs reguarding regisituring the boat.

Illinois is a title state.
Both the boat and trailer should have registration paperwork, and titles.

Your friend did something not to smart.

He will have to deal with the IL gov't now, to get the required paperwork.

With the registration number, he should be able to get the name and address of the seller.

From there, he will need to convince the seller to provide the

registration for the boat

registration for the trailer

title for the boat

title for the trailer

bill of sale for the boat

bill of sale for the trailer.


The Il gov't and the seller have nothing to gain by helping you, so good luck getting any cooperation from them.
