I just rowed back to shore about 20 minutes ago.

I was leaving the dock with my '00 Honda BF40 tilted half way up ( to clear some weeds) and I hit something. I was almost 3000 rpm and starting to accelerate. Whatever it was it killed the engine, took large chunks out of all 3 blades on the prop, and caused the tiller handle to snap off.

I was just starting to accelerate and wham something must have been in the weeds. I got it to shore and the lower unit is untouched so I think the damage is minimized. Tomorrow I'll pull it out of the water and give the lower unit a once over both inside and out. The prop still spins free in neutral and the shift is still smooth so I think I got off easy.

Anyways, I've been wanting to switch the prop so that part is not a big deal. What I want to know is how much a replacement tiller handle is going to cost?? Its just the actual handle, the rest of the assembly is fine. Its saturday night and my dealer isn't open until monday morning. Does anyone have access to a honda price list and can give me a ballpark estimate???

I still have to break the news to my wife and I need to see if I need to take her to a nice dinner first

Nav
