HI,

We are looking to trade our 2008 Rinker 260 EC for an older bigger boat. We recently found a 1999 Doral 36 foot SE that we like a lot (the lay out etc), however, I have read a lot of reviews that say the Doral at that time made crappy hulls etc. Anyone care to share a review or opinion. Thanks

Re: Opinion review of doral boats 36 se

My dentist has an older 32 Doral, and it has been a good boat for him. They did make some good boats over the years. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. So very little to no dealer support should it be needed. They never really established a significant dealer network in the US, but they had more presence in Canada where the boats were made. Just have the boat surveyed before you buy it, and if it fits your needs, and checks out okay, should be fine.

I can only say that there is a 2001 Doral 360SE at my Marina here in BC Canada and my 250SE at the Marina no other Dorals from what I can see. The 360SE owner has nothing but praise to say about his and imho it is darn gorgeous for the year, its layout is excellent and fit and finish easily as nice as many boats newer

Doral closes up shop
The darling of Quebec’s nautical industry took a real beating during the 2007 recession. Previously, the company benefitted from a favourable exchange rate to rival foreign companies for sales within Canada. But with the rise of the Canadian dollar, this advantage plummeted, and Doral was bought by one of its largest dealerships a few years ago. After several attempts to revive the company, the manufacturer found itself again applying for bankruptcy protection last year. There is no indication that production will resume.
