Opinion on Nissan???

I just got in the new Cabela's Mag and i was lookin at the Nissan outboards i noticed that the 30hp is only $1900 with free shipping i was wondering if any of you had any opinions on the price or on how reliable these motors are?? thanks

Howdy, NL. Nissans are made by Tohatsu who are a major player on the international commercial use market. They must be nearly bulletproof to get commercial watermen's bux.<br /><br />My reservation is that I don't see Nissan/Tohatsu dealers around. What would I do if it did break?<br /><br />The prices are certainly good. Maybe that's because they don't have a dealer network to support.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

For what it's worth, I bought a little 6HP 4-stroke for my kicker this year (used for duck hunting so far...) and it sure started nice in cold weather and ran good.<br /><br />Good Luck!

SAVE YOURSELF SOME MAJOR HEADACHES AND BUY A MOTOR FROM A REPUTABLE LOCAL DEALER THE MONEY YOU SAVE BUYING THROUGH A MAGAZINE WILL SEEM LIKE PENNIES THE FIRST TIME YOU NEED PARTS OR SERVICE

Natural Light,<br /><br />I looked into the possibility of purchasing one of those last year. Believe it or not, there is a dealer for Nissan/Tohatsu here-but no Suzuki-go figure.<br /><br />Anyway, The local dealer said they would match Cabelas price. Off course the freight would still be free in the matched price. The only downside was the sales tax. I would happily (well not real happily-I don't like taxes) pay that for the assurance that there is local support.<br /><br />Look around for a local dealer and make them an offer.

Hey Natural Light,<br />Go to nissans web sight and you can find a dealer nearest to you. www.nissanmarine.com <br /><br />I can tell you that I think tohatsu/nissan make a very reliable engine. I have owned 2 that were 25hp and one 90hp and never had any problems except an ocasional fouled plug.<br /><br />Just my opinion but I think you would be satisfied in owning one. But i would try to find a dealer close to home when i made my purchase.<br /><br />good luck!<br /><br /> :) :) :D :D
