Ontario Pike fishing, middle May.

I'm gonna be fishing Southern Ontario in the middle of May this year (12th-19th) Any of you guys have any experience in these parts. We are gonna be on Whitefish Lake, below Sand Lake...it's part of the Rideau Canal system. I'm just wondering what part of the season the snakes are gonna be in. Post spawn maybe??? Should we concentrate our efforts to the shallow bays or could they be deep just after spawning???
