I have an idea. If you could suggest one item for our political leadership to adopt, what would it be?

For me it would be taking the Ethics Committee out of the respective houses and making them independent.

The House and Senate would answer to one committe made up of seven retired judges who would have the power of subpeona. The judges would serve for tsix or so years with two judges being removed every two years. Each party would nominate three judges and the other party would pick one from that list of three. If any third party every got 30% representation they would be included in the rotation.

Any other ideas out there?

Rather than immediately worry about investigations, hearings, commissions, etc. to unravel the past; make and implement a plan to resolve some of the issues that powered the shift from Rep's to Dem's.

Then, when the problems are addressed, go back and raise as much dust as you want....

Here's one - campaign financing. That little box on the tax return that you can check to contribute - that becomes an automatic flat tax - x dollars per return. That is ALL the money that is available. Ever.

Gets divvied up amongst the states like seats in the house. Each candidate gets an equal share of that to spend as they wish. No private additions allowed & no using one's own funds. If a candidate drops out, what they don't use goes back into the fund.

There also would be one on the state forms to handle the local stuff. No "interchangeability" or "credits" for anyone.

That might clean up the process a tad.
