So after posting on Craigslist, renewing the posting every other day, sifting through the inevitable scam e-mails offering to purchase the boat if we could have it shipped to Angola, showing the boat to three or four tire kickers, one demo fiasco where the screw that holds the warmup lever in the remote control came off and jammed the control necessitating a complete disassemble and reassemble of the controls (did not make the sale), yesterday I sold my Yarcraft Yankee. In going through the sales pitch it occurred to me how much I had learned about boats and motors with this particular setup, and how much "sweat equity" I had invested in this little vessel. It served me and my family well as an introduction to the world of boating (the good as well as the bad). We had three great summers of boating, tubing, fishing, and cruising around despite the mechanical down-time when something went wrong with the motor. I had gotten to the point of knowing is something was not right with the boat just by the way it sounded or how it was riding on the water. Although I am very excited about our new 17' Stingray bowrider, I couldn't help but feel a little sad as the Flying Plantain went travelling down my street and out of my neighborhood attached to someone else's truck. I can only hope that the new owners find as much enjoyment from that little boat as my family and I did.
