Just bought this motor. 130 johnson 1995. Motor is converted to pre mix. About every 10 min the alarm beep beeps for about 3 min. Seems to be running fine. I've got pre mixed fuel and the vro has been disconnected. Any thoughts?

That could be your heat sensor making a beeping like that. Is there water peeing out of the motor on the side?

We are back on shore now. The beeping stopped on it's own. It was a oil warning type of beeping, not a solid over heat alarm. I did check to make sure the tattle tale was flowing well and I could put my hand on either head. It was not too hot.

When it was beeping, it (the beeping) seemed to vary a bit with me changing RPMs. I wonder if there is a fuel restriction alarm?? I have dual tanks and had been running on one, I switched it so the engine could feed off of both at once. After doing so, the beeping stopped. The first tank I was running on does have an anti siphen valve, the second tank does not. Could the valve be sticking and restricting flowand causing the alarm? I did not think to check if the fuel bulb was collapsing.

At no point did the engine drop rpms, which would point towards a fuel issue. I was only running as high as 2300 rpm at any point though, I did not push it any faster, Any thoughts? Thanks, Scott

It kinda sounds like the alarm wiring on the "VRO" and/or the oil tank was not disconnected. Trace the wiring from the pump and see if it's apart, then trace the wiring from the oil tank to the motor and inspect the connection.

It's funny to me that some folks worry that the "VRO" will ruin their motor so they disconnect it, yet are upset that the alarm systems, designed to prevent engine damage, work exactly as intended.

Seahorse5, you solved it! The vro wires are plugged in. I just bought this engine used and it had already been converted to premix. When I hung the motor and hooked everything up, I connected the vro plug. Is it strange that the beeping eventually went away on it's own? I ran a good hour and a half after the beeping stopped and it never came back.

Anyway, I'll unplug the pump wires and run it again tomorrow. Scott

If it's the original 1995 VRO tank they had electronics in them and would give off weird signals. Changed in 1996. Best thing you did was disconnect it seeing your running on premix fuel.
