Pretty sure new motor will be here next week, got all my rigging this week and am about to go put it on.

MY PROBLEM: the old Rude didn't have TT so I got a CMC unit, I am fenced as to whether I should pull it off or use the 6'' setback.

From what I have heard a set back is good because the engine runs in cleaner water and can be run a hole or two higher, also it is 6'' farther back so a bit more space on the casting deck, 16' boat, 6'' is alot..

Down side is new motor is 50lbs heavier , CMC is close to 50lbs so if I leave it on I gain 50lbs, take it off and this set up is the same as I have been running.

It has been dewired so I am not gonna run 2 tilt trims just using it for the setback.,

SO, should it stay or should it go?

No, 16' aluminum V-hull.

I work for a pontoon company but don't own one, yet.

Always heard setbacks are good, lots of boats running GIL brackets then again those are high horse big boats.

I am leaning towards leaving it and seeing what it does then pull it off and see what the difference is.

50 lbs is a decent amount of weight ..

Never take more than 6.

I know a good lawyer but I don't want to talk to him.

Beer is a poor frame of reference. It goes over the side.

If you wire the CMC and with the TnT on the new motor, on the water maintenance is easier because you can tilt the motor twice and stand it on end. LOL

Like you said - Try it both ways and if the setback from the CMC doesn't prove worthwhile, you can sell it for 3-400 bucks, which seems to be the going rate for used CMC's.
