..... regarding the lifespan of impellers. I have a newly acquired 25 year old M30A3 where the previous owner said he recently
replaced the impeller before I bought it. As I have found with lawnmowers & cars... sometimes the parts used are new-old stock and
have been on the shelf for two decades and the compound in impellers may be already aged and hardened even though it
is brand new and never used.

Maybe with a 25 year plus age engine I should be happy to find any kind of replacement impeller. Any thoughts on the matter
and whether there are any choices to be made regards factory supplied impellers or after market supplied impellers for 30hp 2 stroke
Tohatsu outboards ?.

With impellers, the manufacturer tries to use the same design as long as possible so that many many models use the same parts.

Tohatsu has been making outboards for other brands for many years, so the same part also goes in some mercury, nissan, etc.

So for the most part, maintenance items like an impeller shouldnt have sat on a shelf for years
