Im wanting to put an on board charger on my boat for a 24 volt system. Ive heard that high charging rates (15-20 amps) are hard on batteries. I'd like the fast charging rate but not if it wears out the batteries. Also have heard that most on-board chargers only charge your batteries to %80 capacity. Is this true. Would the 6 amps chargers give me more battery life? Would like to hear about anyone's experience with onboard chargers- pro and con
thanks
rich

the slower the charge rate the better (2 A)for the battery, and do not over charge. The better chargers have and auto setting and quit charging when complete. Keep the water level filled, but not over filled, and use distilled water. Try not to leave your battery sitting in a discharged state for any length of time (should remain charged all the time). These things will prolong your batteries life. So I've read anyway.
