omc wiring help for gauges

just finishing 89 225 rebuild put harness in there is a three wire plug off the key switch purple i would assume is keyed power black must be ground is the gray wire for tack? im hopeing to get this thing fired soon so any help would be great thanks

can i get the other side to the plug stiil any suggestions where? worst case i can change out that plug but would like to keep it stock thans again phil:D

Those same connections are provided in the wire harness if you look for them. Splice into them. OR -- go to Radio Shack and buy individual pins. Solder the tach wires to the pins, cover with heat shrink and plug them in. You can even go so far as to make your own plug using a wooden dowel and Radio Shack pins. Done it many times. Drill matching holes in a piece of dowel the size of the pins. Wire the pins, stick them into the dowel so they protrude out the front. Epoxy the pins in place and plug it it. Or spend about $30 bucks for the harness.

thank you! i will try that starting with looking for unused connector. tore out all wiring cause it was a birds nest and merc. want to keep it clean and simple thanks again phil:D
