omc v6 4,3 engin problems

hi got a sunbird 208 with omc 4.3 been runing bit rough so fitted new points & condenser they where shot and tryed to set timing with strobe miles out half a pully any way got it running went out ran great then started to run rough again so came back in turned it off tryed to start wouldnt turn over left it and still wouldnt turn over then she went no smoke sounded fine looked near dizi creamy oil drip pulled of oil filler cap water in oil not been ran much this year and did pop core plugs in winter i was a mechanic a long time ago cars and wagons not boats if it was a car i would say head gasket any offers to put me on the right path and is it a bad job looks like a car engine with big exaust manifolds ?
also was over heating befor at normal run 2500 revs but with 5 mph speed limit never botherd us i traced this to impeler seized done that worked no probs till today can anyone help
also foward & reverse are a cow somtimes im new to boats so no idea how or what to do although if im told i will sort it just need a bit of direction thanks rich:confused:

Popped core plugs? Sounds like a cracked block to me. Did u winterize it the last time it was layed up for winter? The forward & reverse issue is probably a shift cable that is either shot or out of adjustment. But that is the least of your problems.

it stays in marena all year round we have ran boat all winter and had no problems till yesterday i think the lad who done the timing never set it right it had a bit of pinking on load i only ran it 5 minn one short run and came back in put it on no 1 set points and timing with a bulb started it ran smooth i re conected diapram rod on carb {been removed as auto choke lol}not by me im new to the boat .
let boat run on tik over and was looking for mixtur screw and i noticed oil from dizi took caps off emulsifacation under cap problem is no rad so cant check water for oil or exaust gasses if it was block it would have been happening sooner in my experiance but a head gasket goes at any time and can go eather way across a oil and water or water into bores or both and on a car you can look for sighns on a boat i cant cracked head posibly but they are cast but this would have shown up sooner ill pull plugs out and turn it over check for water in boars start at top go from ther bes way i think i was lookin to se how water & cooling work on boat i dont no i no it uses the water from river but thats it i use to re build old gardener & man engins a long time ago so this little thing wont faze me and just done my navara bottom end after being fully reconed at ?2000 not by a so called profesional he lernt the hard way dont try to bul**** somone and talk boloks
thanks for your help looks like im blowing the dust of the old snapon oily hands crap under my nails thats why i got out lol

are the blocks on these motors that soft i have 3 old triumphs thet stand pop plugs and just keep going and in the good old days of points & condensers thats was winter money the old pinto was none for it oxi on melt ice new plug thanks very much no probs.
are they liners and rings or solid cast block the motors are built for all climats they cant be that soft ? the water has to be gettin in the oil from top its been ok for 8 month it would have shown last oil chainge and i dip befor i run it nothing just noticed it won let you put bad words lol like beeing at schooll have the sensors never listend to to real men talk thanks for any ****in help lol
