Hi, I have a 1962 Johnson Sea Horse 10HP model QD. The manual says to use OMC Type "A" "B" "C" Lubricants and OMC Type "A" Grease at various lubrication points. Can anyone explain the mystery of what the weights and specs are for these? What OMC or other products would work as equivilants? Thanks!

Re: OMC Type

A - Marine grease. Works better than regular greases in a marine environment due to being extremely water resistant and loaded up with corrosion inhibitors. But "any grease is better than no grease at all."

B - Became OMC "Hi Vis" gearcase lube. Equivalent to a 90 weight outboard gearcase lube.

C - Became OMC "Premium Blend" lube. About the thickness of ATF. Not recommended for use on your outboard any longer - use B instead or BRP "UltraHPF".

Thanks for the great reply. Can you explain the Type "A" Lubricant (in addition to the Type A Grease) Thanks!

Re: OMC Type

Same thing. Just not in a grease gun. eg, you grease the transom clamp screws not oil them.
