Bill, do a search for "trim" or so on this forum and you will get numerous hits. Read through the posts, they often describe the same symptoms you are having.

Check the solenoids if they have power or if they send power to the motor. Also, every outdrive has its fuse. I don't know how it's on a dual engine boat. Maybe you just blew a fuse on the port outdrive.

Run the search and you'll find lots of good advice.

Lou

Re: OMC Trim/Tilt

Bill, if you have a repair manual, it will tell you where the fuses are. If you don't, there is nothing to lose by getting one. It's a very good investment.

My outdrive lifter pump fuse is on the aft of the engine block, right by the big connector and other main fuses. But I have a different boat ('89 Bay Cierra 2655 w/ 460 King Cobra) so it's hard to tell where exactly yours are.

If you don't have a manual, just locate the wires from the malfunctioning pump and trace them back to relays (plastic boxes somewhere 'round the engine) and trace the other wires from the relays to the battery. These wires should have fuses in them. But since you're already looking at the wires and solenoids (relays), check the voltage with a test light or voltmeter.

If you need any specific info on what and how to check, let me know, I'll be glad to help.

Lou
