Hi, gotta a 3.8L omc with 800 series drive. Trying to get my power trim system up and running and wondering what kind of oil to use. Should i use hydraulic, or would power steering fluid work. Thanks

Ayuh,... Or even ATF....

Trim pumps are very basic Hyd. pumps that'll run on about Any oil lighter than 50W,...
Although,... Lighter is Better, down to the 10W... Which pretty much covers All the oils mentioned here....

Since you don't have trim on your drive, are you talking about the gear housing on the port side of your drive?

the trim is on the engine mounts, not the drive, but it's the same style trim pump - same fluid as any trim system

If it lost oil, take a good look at the seals on the rams - the oil leaking out can destroy the boat's wooden stringers.
