omc throttle control

My new boat has throttle shift control for forward and reverse on side console with trim adjustment and key start,UNDER THE KEY IS A BLACK KNOB THAT TURNS RIGHT AND LEFT. What does this do.

RC.... That is a tension control, sort of a brake which you can adjust should the throttle have a tendency to creep due to viberation etc.
