We have a "custom made Boston Whaler replica" swamp fishing boat with an 1990 2-stroke Evinrude 70HP.

Its been pretty hard to start since we got the boat, it helps a lot to start it with the throttle at least half open.
I have been doing this manually with my hand moving the carbs levers.

Today I found out that the throttle control box does not have that buttom I am used to from my Yamahas I can press in to open the throttle without putting into gear.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if I need to go to the eye doctor ... since the Johnson seems to generally like some throttle on cold start, how am I supposed to do this ??

Attaching pic of my control box, there is only the switch for tilting the engine ...

Please help, thanks!

Pull the entire handle away from the box.-----Use both hands near the base.----See if that does anything.

Handle in neutral, grab base of handle and pull it away from control box, once it's about 1/2' out you can advance throttle without it going in gear.

Madre mia, thanks guys!
Since its an original OMC part, I think the markings "push to the left" just faded away over the years due to a combination of sweaty/dirty hands and sun.

Thanks again!
